The part of the world, which is called the Danakil Depression, is one of the remotest, lowest and unique land formations of the world in the Great Rift Valley system. Still it is part of the earth which is unstable and pulling each other to the opposite side. In this adventure you will explore Erta Alle, absolutely unique Lava Lake erupting 24 hours and Dalol, the lowest part of Danakil Depression (116 below sea level) extremely hottest and inhospitable place but enjoyable and extraordinary colorful landscape. It is famous for its fascinating fumaroles amazing rock formations, crystal and mineral deposits. The final part of your adventure takes you to Lake Asale, famous salt mining lake and visits to salt workers when cutting, shaping and loading. Besides, salt merchants along with their endless Camel Caravans will be visited.

Day 1: Arrive in Addis Ababa, city tour of Addis Ababa
On arrival in Addis Ababa our representatives will meet you at Bole International Airport and transfers to Ambassador Hotel. An overview of the program and itineraries will be given. The rest of the day visit historical sites in Addis Ababa including the National Archaeological Museum, where we will view the 3.6 million year old remains of “Lucy”, whose skeletal remains when discovered in 1974. You will also visit the Ethnological Museum at Addis Ababa University, Holy Trinity Cathedrals and Mount Entoto which rises up to an altitude of 3200 meters and offers the panoramic view of the metropolis. Day 2: Drive to Semera
After breakfast drive towards the East to Semera, the capital of the Afar Region, on the way enjoys the beautiful Ethiopian rift valley landscape. At Semera you will collect the permit paper to visit the region from the regional tourist office. The Tourist office will provide you local Afar guide and two rangers/ police men that accompany you for the trip. Overnight Local hotel / camping

Day 3: Drive to Afdera
We drive further to the east to Afdera. Here one more old man, who is important for our trip, will accompany you. Overnight Local hotel / camping

Day 4: Drive to Dodom and continue to Erta Alle
Drive from Afdera to Dodom. At Dodum we will hire mules to transport your luggage and camping gear and then you will start walk to the Erta Ale Volcanic hills (613 meters above sea level) which is 15kms one way. You arrive at Erta Ale around mid night and walk to see the volcanic eruption. The eruption is so colorful and spectacular. At night we will camp nearby the eruption, on the crater rim above the active lava lake. At Night Shooting a good pictures of the Volcano. Overnight resting around Erta Ale

Day 5: Dodom
This day you walk back the 15 kms and meet the vehicles and drive to Dodum for overnight camping.

Day 6: Ahmedela
Drive to Ahmedela along unmarked sandy tracks. Ahmedela is the base to explore the salt mines, salt workers and camel caravans. Overnight Camping at Ahmedela

Day 7: Excursion to Dallol, visit the Dallol area, salt mining and camel caravans.
After early breakfast drive to the Lake Asale, salty Lake and visit the salt workers and the merchant. Here you will observe salt cutting, shaping and then loading to the endless Camel Caravans. Then after proceed to Dalol and enjoy the spectacular view of the small hills, colorful hot spring in several places. These hot springs are composed of different minerals along with sulfurs and potash and create spectacular colors. Finally drive back to Ahmedela for an overnight stay, camping.

Day 8: Berahile
Drive up to Berahile, the town/village of miners'. Evening walk to see camel herders arriving and departing from Berahile. Overnight camping outside the town.

Day 9: Drive to Mekele
Drive from Berhaile to Mekele- the capital of Tigray region on the way visit the Afar village over the escarpment of the Great Rift Valley system to the western highland. Overnight Mekele Axum Hotel

Day 10: Fly to Addis Ababa
After breakfast you will check in to Mekele Airport for your flight to Addis Ababa. Evening we will have a fare well dinner in one of the Ethiopian restaurants for cultural dinner and dances from the different ethnic groups. Then after transfer to the airport for your flight back home.

After visiting The Monasteries over Lake Tana, the Blue Nile Falls and the medieval castles at Gondar, we head into the Simien Mountains for a spectacular trek. The Simien Mountains have been called Africa’s “Green Grand Canyon”. The Simien Mountains of Ethiopia offer superb wilderness trekking with stunning scenery, dramatic cliffs and escarpments and the chance to spot endemic wildlife such as a troop of Gelada Baboon, Walia Ibex and Simien fox and Ethiopia’s many endemic birds and plant life unique to the mountains and the immense beauty of the mountains. Day 1: Arrive in Addis Ababa, city tour of Addis Ababa

Day 2: Drive from Addis Ababa Bahir Dar:
Drive to Bahir Dar through the beautiful scenery at after 103 kms drive, visit the 13th C monastery of Debre Libanos and the 17th C Portuguese Bridge. Debre Libanos is an important monastic center for Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity, and there is a small cave near the church (of recent construction) where the renowned 13th century mystic Teklehaimanot is said to have stood for seven years on one leg, until the other wasted away and dropped off. During the Fascist aggression (1935-41) more than 300 monks were slaughtered at Debre Libanos- the Italians had identified the Orthodox Church as a key component of the Ethiopians’ independent identity.And after some distance from the monastery you will enjoy the fabulous Blue Nile Gorge, similar to the Grand Canon of USA. Proceed driving through the amhara rigion and late in the afternoon you will arrive at Bahir dar . Overnight /Tana Hotel.

Day 3: In Bahir Dar:
After breakfast, we take a boat trip on Lake Tana to visit ancient monasteries. We will visit two of the most accessible and representative of the monasteries, still serving their original function, Ura Kidane Mehret, and Azwa Maryam. In the afternoon we pay a visit to the impressive Blue Nile Falls, locally known as Tis Isat or \'Smoke of Fire’. Overnight Tana Hotel

Day 4: Drive Gondar Tour of Gondar:
We experience typically in an Ethiopian African landscape as we drive from Bahir Dar to Gondar- 180 kms over wide grazing land, hilly mountains with numerous farmlands. The rest of the day visit attractions in Gondar. The attractions that we visit in Gondar includes: Castles of Gondar- are included in the World Heritage List, the royal Fasiledes Bath and the Church of Debre Berhan Selassie with its unique murals. Day 5: Gondar to Geech Camp Site:
Morning 3 hours drive through countryside to Debark town (100 Kms from Gondar), where the head quarter of Semien Mountains National Park is found. Here we pay the entrance fees and a scout and a local guide will accompany us. Then we continue driving to Sankaber (31 Kms) the first campsite of the National Park. It is this day that we start to walk in the national park. We begin the trek along all the trekking staff: including mules and Muleteers for packing and transport of camping gears and all foodstuffs. We walk from Sankaber to Geech, which will take between 5 - 6 hours. After about 1 and half hours walk we see the Jinnbar River and falls, we will cross the river later in the day. After crossing the river, we ascend for about two hour to Geech, which is full of Giant Lobelias. The scenery is wonderful, and heard of the endemic Gelada Baboon can be seen on our way. Overnight Camping at Geech Campsite (3600m).

Day 6: Geech – Imetegogo – Geech: 
This day we will be waking to the best viewpoints in the National park. First we walk to Imetegogo, the view here enables one to look 3600 to all directions this one of the best view in the national park. After a short stay here continue walk to Seha, the other terrific viewpoint in the National park. We will have our picnic lunch and we continue to the last viewpoint, Quedadit. After some stay we walk back to Geech camp site. The walk this day is not hard; it takes about 4 - 5 hours. It is the day that we will be walking in the best part of the national park. If we are lucky we might have the chance to see mammals like the Simien wolf, Walia Ibex and Klipspringers. Overnight Camping at Geech Campsite - (3600m).

Day 7: Cheneck:
We trek to Chenek, we will be walking through the Giant lobelia trees and under these trees African field Rats are common. After picnic lunch we walk on the edge of Enatye escarpments (4000m. above sea level), which is another breathtaking view in the national park; finally we descend to Chenek. Chenek is the best place to see the endemic Waliya Ibex and more Gelada Baboon. It takes 6 - 7 hours walk. Overnight Camping at Chenek.- (3600m)

Day 8: Ambiquo:
We walk to Ambiquo climbing Buhit (14530ft/4430m) Mountain the 2nd highest peak next to Ras Dashen in Semien Mountain ranges, giving excellent views over the whole area.
After, refreshment at the summit, you descend towards Chero Laba crossing the Mesheha River, we will reach to Ambiquo and resting for the night here, before the big day on Ras Dashen. The walk of this day takes 7- 8 hours. Overnight Camping at Ambiquo - (10496ft/3200m).

Day 9: Ras Dashen then Maje
Very early morning start walking toward mount Ras Dashen.You get up in the pre dawn chill for what will be the most challenging day of the Trek. To reach the summit can take up to 6 hrs. You will head up the valley from campsite to the small village of Mizma, from where you will climb steeply up wards, eventually reaching an impressive amphitheatre made up of three major buttresses of expanded rock, one of which is your goal, Ras Dashen. It is then an easy scramble to the summit, Ras Dashen, which is the fourth highest peak in Africa (14901ft/4543m). After taking in the impressive views descend to Maje for an overnight. The whole round trek takes from 8-10 hours. Overnight Camping at Maje - (10496ft/3200m). 

Day 10: Arquazeye
Walk from Ambiquo to Arquazeye through the magnificent landscape. From Ambiko the path leads us back down to the Mesheha River (2800ms). Our destination tonight is Arkwasiye, which is situated at an altitude of 3600 metres, and located at the northern reached of the Mesheha Wenz River. It is another great day to take in some more incredible views of the Simien Mountains: Munt Wali Kend and Mount Silky in a distance view. The whole round trek takes from 6-7 hours. Overnight camping in Arquazeye, 3600 metres.

Day 11: Mekarebia:
Trek from Arquazeye to Mekarebia. We descend for about 2 hours and we cross a river. On this river we stay for about an hours in swiming and washing some clothes and walk to Mekarebia. Overnight Camping

Day 12: Mulit
Trek from Mekarabia to Mulit .On the way to Mullit this day once again we stop for swimming at the river. Afternoon we will ascend for 2 hours before we reach Mullit. Overnight Camping

Day 13: Aderkay meet vehicles and drive to Axum
Trek from Mulit to Aderkay meet vehicles and to drive Axum. We have a two hours walk to Adi Arkai; here we will be picked up by vehicle and drive to Axum Overnight Remehay Hotel

Day 14: Visit of historical and archaeological sites in Axum
The ancient city of Axum is found close to Ethiopia\'s northern border. It marks the location of the heart of ancient Ethiopia, when the Kingdom of Axum was the most powerful state between the Eastern Roman Empire and Persia. The archaeological and historical attractions in Axum include: the archaeological museum, monolithic steles or obelisks, the tombs of King Kaleb and King Gebre Meskal, and the legendary Bath of the Queen of Sheba, and the ruins of ancient palace of Queen Sheba. You also visit the new and the old Cathedral of St Mary of Zion and the sanctuary that houses the original Arc of the covenant. The 16th Century Cathedral of St Mary of Zion was probably built on an earlier 4th century church, and is the holiest church in Ethiopia. In its sanctuary is said to rest the original Ark of the Covenant. Overnight Remhay Hotel

Day 15: Fly Lalibela
We take a short flight to Lalibela then drive 23kms to the town where all the 11 monolithic Rock Hewn Churches of Lalibela are situated. Today we visit the first group of six churches lie in rock cradles one behind the other: Bet Golgotha, Bet Mika\'el, Bet Maryam, Bet Meskel, Bet Danaghel and Bet Medhane Alem. Bet Medhane Alem, the largest one, is built like a Greek Temple and its stone floor is so polished by the countless numbers of visitors that it reflects shafts of light from apertures in the walls high above. In a corner are three empty graves symbolically dug for biblical patriarchs Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Overnight Roha or Jerusalem hotel

Day 16: In Lalibela
After breakfast a mule ride to the 13thc rock hewn monastery of Asheten Mariam. The church is situated on the top a mountain at an altitude of 3150 metres. This will take about 4 hours. We return back to the town for lunch. In the afternoon, visit of the other groups of Rock churches of Lalibela Bet Giyorgis, possibly the most elegant of all the Lalibela churches, lies somewhat isolated in the southwest part of the village on a sloping rock terrace. It can only be reached through a tunnel. The group of four, south of the Jordan River, comprise of Bet Emanuel, Bet Mercurios, Bet Abba Libanos and Bet Gabriel-Rufa\'el. Bet Emanuel\'s elaborate exterior is much praised by art historians. Overnight Roha or Jerusalem hotel

Day 2: Bale Mountains - Dinsho Lodge
After breakfast, we start a full day's drive to the Bale Mt. National Park, traveling thorough the southeast part of the capital, where fertile land is cultivated by the Oromo people. We arrive at Dinsho, Park head quarter, in the afternoon, in time for a walk around to see three of the endemic mammals: Menelik's Bushbuck, and Mountain Nyala. And birds Blue-winged goose, Spot-breasted lapwing, Abyssinian long claw, Wattled ibis, Black-headed siskin, Rouget’s rail, and of course other species, too. Overnight at Dinsho Lodge

Day 3: In Dinsho and Geysay Valley

Day 4: Mararo
Accompanied by your guide and packhorses we trek 5-6 hrs through the lush highland vegetation to our first campsite, Mararo. The air here is clean and crisp and the scenery utterly stunning. En route you will see a number of birds like Wattled ibis*, Rouget’s rail*, black-winged lovebird*, thick-billed raven*, white-collared pigeon*, Abyssinian long claw*, Abyssinian catbird*, white-backed black tit*, black-headed forest oriole*, black kite, augur-buzzard and lammergeyer. Day 5: Wasema Valley
After breakfast we resume trek that will last for about 7- 8 hrs. The trek offers the chance to see Ethiopia's endemic Abyssinian Wolf. Around Worgona mineral spring, Giant Mole rat can easily be seen. Overnight camping at Wasema Valley.

Day 6: Gebre Guracha
Today you trek through the highlands ascending Senate Plateau and crossing Batu Mountain, 4200 meters. Here you have a great opportunity t see Ethiopian wolf*. You will also see a number of birds of pray such as Lammergeyer, Vereaux’s eagle and harrier hawk. Overnight camping at the base of the valley, viewing Lake Gebre Guracha

Day 7: Little Batu
Today you trek towards little Batu Mountain, this trek is the day you face back to the head quarter of Bale Mountains. The trek will take for about 6- 7 hrs. Overnight camping at the base of Little Batu Mountain.

Day 8: Dinsho Loge
After breakfast trek to Dinsho Loge. This last trekking day will take for about 5 - 6 hrs. Overnight Dinsho lodge.

Day 9: Drive back to Addis evening Departure:

The Omo Valley in Southern Ethiopia is a little visited area of Ethiopia containing some of the most colorful tribes and ethnic groups. Day 2: 30 December: Drive Arba Minch
Drive south of Addis Ababa, to Arba Minch via Hosahena. This drive is through the Gurage farmlands, with views of the lush green hills and valleys. You arrive late in the afternoon at Arba Minch - meaning 'Forty Springs' in Amharic. Arba Minch takes its name from the bubbling streams that cover the groundwater forest occupying the flats of the town. Day 3: 31 December: Drive Jinka
If the day is Thursday, Key Afer Market can be visited en route. After break fast drive to Konso where colorfully costumed dress, impressive terracing of the Land and unusually engraved wooden statues used as grave markers can be seen. Further along the route visit the Woito people live in the area around Woito River and Tsemay village. Continue driving to Jinka for overnight in Jinka Resort Hotel.

Day 4: 1 January: Drive Jinka- Mursi- Jinka
After breakfast leave Jinka and drive to Mursi village to visit and appreciate the very attractive culture of Mursi tribe. They are renowned for the strange custom followed by their women who, on reaching maturity, have their lower lips slit and circular clay discs inserted. Proceed to Mago National Park. Day 5: 2 January: Drive Jinka – Turmi
After breakfast drive to Turmi through Dimeka for the visit of Hamer people and their village. Turmi is a small town, which is the base to visit the Hamer village. Hamers have remarkable hairstyles made from ochre, water, and binding resin. They rub the mixture into their hair then twist the strands repeatedly to create coppery-coloured locks. This is a sign of wealth and welfare. Hamers are considered to be masters of body decoration. Overnight camping at Turmi campsite.

Day 6: 3 January: Drive to Arba Minch
Drive back to Arba Minch: on the way visit the Cushitic speaking Arbore people and their villages. The Abore people adorn themselves with beads and aluminum jewelry. Overnight Bekele Molla hotel

Day 7: 4 January: Drive to Lake Langano
we drive to Lake Langano and to Bekele Molla Hotel. The soft brown waters of Langano are set against the blue backdrop of the Arsi Mountains which soar to 4000m. Over 150 species of birds have been recorded here. Overnight at Lake Langano at Bekele Molla Hotel.

Day 8: 5 January: Drive to Addis Ababa:
Early morning drive back to Addis Ababa. Visit en route the Ethiopian Rift-valley Lakes with their various colorful water birds. Then after proceed to Addis Ababa Overnight Ambassador Hotel.

Day 9: 6 January: Fly Lalibela
Morning: Be transferred to the airport for flight to Lalibela. Up on arrival in Lalibela, transfer to the Hotel Mountain View. Lalibela is the second Jerusalem created by King Lalibela in the 12th century.
Afternoon: we visit the first group of six churches lie in rock cradles one behind the other: Bet Golgotha, Bet Mika'el, Bet Maryam, Bet Meskel, Bet Danaghel and Bet Medhane Alem. Bet Medhane Alem, the largest one, is built like a Greek Temple and its stone floor is so polished by the countless numbers of visitors that it reflects shafts of light from apertures in the walls high above. Day 10: 7 January: In Lalibela Whole day attend Ethiopian Christmas Festival in Lalibela

Day 11: 8 January: Fly Axum:
After breakfast fly to Axum. The ancient city of Aksum is found close to Ethiopia's northern border. Day 12: 9 January: Fly Gondar Tour of Gondar
Morning: After breakfast, we will be transferred to the airport for flight to Gondar. Gondar is a town founded in 1636 by the great Emperor Fassiladas, set in a landscape of incomparable beauty. It was the Royal Capital of Ethiopia. Visit the Castles and Churches built by Emperor Fassiladas and his descendants. Later proceed to the fascinating Debre Birhan Selassie Church (termed by United Nation’s Education Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as one of the World’s heritage sights), its walls and ceilings decorated with scenes of Biblical lore and medieval history. We check in to Tana Hotel where we are going to stay for two overnights. Bahir Dar is a small town on the southern shore of Lake Tana, the source of the Blue Nile and the largest lake in Ethiopia. Day 14: 11 January: Morning Visit Blue Nile Afternoon Fly to Addis Ababa
Morning: After breakfast visit the impressive Blue Nile Falls, locally known as Tis Isat or 'Smoke of Fire’. Drive to the small town of Tiss Abay here you take-off the vehicle and walk the uphill for about 20-30 minutes to reach the best view point of the falls. NB. Since recently the water is diverted for hydroelectric power the fall is not as magnificent as the pictures you saw.
Afternoon: you will check in to the Airport for your flight to Addis Ababa. In the Evening a fare well diner party in one of the Traditional Ethiopian restaurant with dances from the different ethnic Groups. Then after transfer out to the airport for departure back to home.

Day 4: Excursion to Simien Mountains
Not far from Gondar are the Simien Mountains offering some of Ethiopia most striking scenery in a vast stretch of beautiful and unspoiled mountain wilderness. We have time for a short visit through astonishingly steep valleys and isolated jutting volcanic plugs that were formed by ancient seismic activity. The mountain wildlife is equally astonishing with 50 different birds species, troops of Gelada baboons, etc. We will also have time during our visit to explore the unique and often bizarre flora of this Afro-alpine ecosystem. Day 5: Fly Axum
After breakfast transfer to the airport for a short flight to Axum. On arrival in Axum you will be transferred to Remehay hotel. After refreshment visit the historical and archaeological sites in Axum including: The archaeological museum, The magnificent monolithic steles or obelisks, the tombs of King Kaleb and King Gebre Meskal, and the legendary Bath of the Queen of Sheba, and the ruins of ancient palace of Queen Sheba. The 16th Century Cathedral of St Mary of Zion was probably built on an earlier 4th century church, and is the holiest church in Ethiopia. In its sanctuary is said to rest the original Ark of the Covenant. The churches and monasteries of Axum house are richly endowed with icons, and some of the historical crowns of ancient emperors. Day 6: Fly to Lalibela
After breakfast transfer to Axum Airport to leave for Lalibela, the site of the world wonder. The flight departs Gondar at 9.30 and arrives Lalibela at 10.00 upon arrival transfer 23 kms to Roha (3star). En route, at the footstep of mount Asheten (over 3000 meters high) visit the 13thc built-up-cave church of Na'akutola'ab. Day 7: In Lalibela
After breakfast a mule ride to the 13thc rock hewn monastery of Asheten Mariam. The church is situated on atop a mountain at an altitude of 3150 metres. This will take about 4 hours. We return back to the town for lunch. In the afternoon, visit of the other groups of Rock churches of Lalibela Bet Giyorgis, possibly the most elegant of all the Lalibela churches, lies somewhat isolated in the southwest part of the village on a sloping rock terrace. It can only be reached through a tunnel. The group of four, south of the Jordan River, comprise of Bet Emanuel, Bet Mercurios, Bet Abba Libanos and Bet Gabriel-Rufa'el. There are two main Highlights for this trip. The first is to visit the celebration of Ethiopia Christmas on 7 January in Lalibela. Falling on 7 January, Ethiopia Christmas is celebrated seriously by a church service that goes on throughout the night, with people moving from one church to another. The celebration is spectacular in Lalibela. The other one is to visit the celebration of Ethiopian Epiphany - Timket Festival on 18 and19 January in Addis Ababa.

The tour also includes a visit of Ethiopia Historic Route in the north and the Omo valley of Ethiopia in the south.The tour called the Ethiopia Historic Route is one of the great treasures of Ethiopia. Morning Mule ride to the 13thc rock hewn monastery of Asheten Mariam. The church is situated on a top a mountain at an altitude of 3150 metres. The 13th century monastery is built on a ridge, excellent views over the surrounding countryside. Inside the monastery you will find the 13thc hand and processional crosses of king Na’akutola’ab who ruled Ethiopia for 40 years just after king Lalibela. This will take about 4 hours for the round trip: We return back to the town for lunch. Afternoon visit of the other groups of Rock churches of Lalibela Bet Bet Giyorgis, possibly the most elegant of all the Lalibela churches, lies somewhat isolated in the south-west part of the village on a sloping rock terrace. After breakfast visit the Dorze tribe and their village, famed for their bee hive shaped houses and their weaving skills. Weaving is a primary profession for many Dorze. Day 11: 13 Jan: Drive Arba Minch - Turmi
After breakfast drive to Turmi, en route visit the Konso people and their village. A pagan society, the Konso erect eerie wooden totems replete with phallic symbols over the graves of the dead and have numerous cults based around the breeding and veneration of serpents. The cornerstone of Konso culture, however, is a highly specialized and successful agricultural economy that, through terracing buttressed with stone, enable these people to extract a productive living from the none-too-fertile hills and valleys that surround them. Further south, visit the Arbore people and their village. An excellent day to meet the people, take photographs with them and learn of a culture that has had very little outside influence. Later afternoon arrival at Turmi: a small town, which is the base to visit the Hamer village. Hamers have remarkable hairstyles made from ochre, water, and binding resin. They rub the mixture into their hair then twist the strands repeatedly to create coppery-colored locks. This is a sign of wealth and welfare. Hamers are considered to be masters of body decoration. Day 13: 15 Jan: Jinka- Mursi - Jinka
After breakfast leave Jinka and drive to Mursi village to visit and appreciate the very attractive culture of Mursi tribe. They are renowned for the strange custom followed by their women who, on reaching maturity, have their lower lips slit and circular clay discs inserted. Proceed to Mago National Park. Day 14: 16 Jan: Drive from Turmi – Yabello
Drive to Yabello visiting the Tsemay people en route. After lunch stop at Konso, continue to the region of Oromo Borena and visit their village. Day 16: 18 Jan: Drive to Addis Ababa afternoon attend eve of Timket Festival
Drive back to Addis Ababa through the Great Rift Valley lakes Via Awassa. After making a quick check in to Hilton Hotel drive to Jan Meda to attend the eve of Timket Festival. Timket, or Timkat, is Ethiopian language for Epiphany. Although the holiday commemorating Christ\'s baptism in the River Jordan is observed by Christians all over the world, Timket is of special significance in Ethiopia. Day 17: 19 Jan: Attend Timket festival in Addis Ababa; then departure
After breakfast drive to Jan Meda to attend Timket Festival, the colorful festival of the Orthodox Christens. The remainder of the day is free for shopping on your own. Evening we will invite you a fare well dinner at in one of the cultural Ethiopian restaurants for Ethiopian dish and cultural dances from different ethnic groups. Then after transfer to the airport for your departure back home.
